Fred and Chris' Grandfather, Fredrick Cooke opened what is described as the 'Buckingham Palace of Pie and Mash shops' in 1910. The brothers ran and maintained the pie and mash shop, selling pie, mash, and live eels to the local people of Hackney. Eventually, they had to close the business in 1997. Fred retired to live in Essex
