Catherine Ellen Daines, or ‘Kitty’, lived at various addresses in Hackney.
Attended Enfield Road School 1914-1923. Left school in 1923.
In 1916 she was living at 23 Culford Road, N1. She stayed at this address until 1931.
Had two years secretarial training at Pitman's college.
Spent three years 1926-1929 working as a secretary for Humphreys, Bushell & Co., chartered accountants. She then spent 2 years working for a retail hosiery and lingerie firms before it went into liquidation.
In 1931-1935 she was living at 6 Southgate Grove, Southgate Road N. In 1935 she was hired as a shorthand typist.
She was a keen photographer and made photo albums of her holidays during the 1930s. Like most people at this time, she visited coastal places within Britain such as Torquay.
In 1948 appears to be living in Southend-On-Sea.
From 1949, she was living on Victoria Avenue, London Road, Wickford. In 1959 she was seeking treatment for a serious digestive condition.
Popular overseas tourism began during the 1950s and especially the 1960s, as travel by airplane became more accessible and ‘package tours’ helped people explore destinations like the Alps or the Mediterranean. In her suitcase Kitty brought back souvenirs from her exotic European adventures.
