Hackney & Central London Scrub Hub
23/03/2020
A group of Hackney residents founded Hackney Scrub Hub on 23 March 2020, the day before the UK went into its first national lockdown.
Over the course of 9 weeks, over 120 volunteer professional sewers made 420 sets of scrubs (tops and trousers) to help protect NHS frontline workers and social care staff. Though Hackney Scrub Hub was based at Make Town, a textiles and craft studio in Hackney, restrictions meant that the vast majority of volunteers worked from home.
