                    History
United Dairies was a dairy company formed in 1915 in Wiltshire after several smaller businesses joined together to ensure they could keep running through WWI. During the 1920s, United Dairies pioneered the sale of pasteurised milk to the British public.
It was first a wholesale business, then several London retailers joined in 1917 - they delivered milk all around the city. There was a United Dairies site on Rossendale Street in Clapton.
In 1958, United Dairies merged with Cow and Gate to form Unigate. Unigate then sold the dairy side of the business to Dairy Crest in 2000.
