Biography
Jazzie B is a DJ, producer, vocalist and leading figure in the Soul II Soul sound system, founded in 1988. His first gig, in 1977, was under the name Jah Rico which was later changed to Soul II Soul. The soul/dance/pop collective ran legendary club nights, hosted radio shows and released mixtapes, singles and albums. Jazzie B received an OBE in 2008 for his contribution to U.K. music.
He launched the label the Funki Dreds in 1991, and his face became the logo of Soul II Soul and Funki Dreds merchandise. Throughout his career, Jazzie B has worked with many artists and remixed songs for artists like Nas, Ziggy Marley and Destiny's Child. He is the founder of the Featured Artists Coalition.
