Michael Heseltine

Biography

Michael Heseltine is a British politician who served as a Conservative Member of Parliament from 1966 to 2001. As part of Margaret Thatcher's government, he served in the cabinet as Secretary of State for the Environment (1979 -1983) and Secretary of State for Defence (1983-1986).

Heseltine was targeted by both Hackney Council and local community activists for his policies, in particular efforts to reduce local government spending but cutting grants and introducing rate-capping.
