History

The Glory was an LGBTQIA+ nightclub founded by drag performers including Jonny Woo, John Sizzle and their business partner Colin Rothbart in October 2014. The founding of the club emerged out of an alternative queer scene around East London that included spaces and nightclubs such as Bistrotheque, the Bricklayers Arms and the George and Dragon, where drag performances, competitions and themed nights would take place. In 2014, the founders opened up their own venue in a traditional pub on 281 Kingsland Road. The night club was known for its themed nights, cocktails and drag competitions, as well as its glitter curtains. It was an inclusive space that gave platforms to emerging queer artists who were finding their feet in London as well as a welcoming space to East London's communities.
The club closed in 2024 and the owners opened a new club in Dalston called the Divine.
