Biography
Dora Codd was a sister of Lilian Gill.
She was born in Hackney, the second of 5 children to parents Olive Grace and Frederick William Codd, a printing machine packer. The family lived at 24 Presburg at the time of her birth, and at some point between 1911-1913 they had moved to 190 Millfields Road, Clapton. In 1925/1926 the family moved to 60 Fletching Road, Clapton.
In 1934 she married a Walter Robert Furby. Items relating to their wedding party was donated to Hackney Museum is 1994 as part of a wider set of items owned by her sister Lilian.
In 1936 the couple had a son Peter and had left Hackney to move to Carshalton. In the 1939 register Dora is listed as doing unpaid domestic duties to support Walter who was working as a postman.
Dora died in 1978 in Sutton.
