Physical Description
Hackney Libraries Book Bus
Object history
The Hackney book bus was launched in November by the borough library service, hoping to challenge a public image of librarians as being "dull" and "stuffy". Stops on the route included adult literacy classes, ethnic minority groups, mother tongue classes, under fives groups and pensioner meetings.
It became a regular feature at summer festivals and various protests throughout the 1980s.
