This poster symbolises the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, with his injured horse, bearing the Hand of Ali, standing in front of a battle-ground. At the bottom right is the Shrine of Imam Hussain ibn Ali, in the city of Karbala, Iraq. The title lines read as follows:
‘The king of martyrs, Imam Hussain (May Allah bless him). Hussain could not stay on his horse because there was a call for prayer. The time was “asr” so he dropped himself onto the ground.’
The names of the family of the Prophet are written on the saddlecloth under the hand. From right to left they are ‘Muhammed’, ‘Ali’, ‘Fatima’, ‘Hasan’ and ‘Hussain’.
