Physical Description
A 'Harry Sedgwick' medal for school achievements from 1910. One side of the medal shows St.Augustine's Tower on the Narrow Way in central Hackney; the other side is marked, 'Gift of Harry Sedgwick Esq.' and with the name of the recipient, 'Nellie Hawes'. Harry Sedgwick was a church warden at St.John's Hackney, who began Hackney school achievement awards in 1820. As of 2016, the awards continue to be given under the title 'The Sedgwick Awards Service'.
