Physical Description
A 'sixpence' or 'sixpenny bit' from 1967; a coin with a surprisingly rich cultural history (in Christmas puddings, 'Sing a song of sixpence..', etc.) The coin had a face value of six pre-decimal pennies (6d). After decimalisation in 1971 the coin continued in circulation as legal tender until the 30th of June 1980 with a face value of two and a half 'new pence' (decimal pennies).
