                            Physical Description
A British pre-decimal halfpenny (1/2d) coin. 'Halfpenny' was pronounced /ˈheɪpəni/ HAY-pə-nee, and colloquially written as 'ha'penny'. Before decimal currency replaced it in 1971, Britain used the 'pounds, shillings & pence' (or 'Lsd') system: twelve pennies made a shilling, and twenty shillings made a pound; therefore 480 ha'pennies made a pound.
