“I am Diane Abbott, the Labour
Party candidate for Hackney
North and Stoke Newington in the
General Election. As your MP, I
will fight for a better deal for all
people in Hackney.
As a black woman, I am
especially concerned about the
way that Tory policies over the
past eight years have taken
choices away from women, and
Polling Day is Thursday June 11th.
particularly from black women.

Cuts in health and social services
have meant that women have
been forced back into the home to
care for sick and elderly people.
This is what the Tories mean by
community care.
The Tories have failed to stop the
rise in unemployment - and high
Unemployment means fewer and
worse jobs for women. The Tory
government has changed the rules
on maternity leave from work,
and on part-times’ job security,
and has abolished Wages
Councils. These are all moves
which directly attack women’s
rights and security at work.
The Labour Party believes that
women should have choices and
opportunities - the right to a job,
the right to feel safe on the streets,
the right to continuing education.
The Labour party believes in a
better deal for women in all
aspects of life, free from racism
and discrimation.
We will set up a Ministry for
Women to make sure that women
and women’s issues are taken
seriously, and that there really is a
better deal for women”
your
sincerely
Diane Abbott
