Wooden spoon. Appears to be in the traditional khokhloma folk art style of Russia.

Object history

This item was gifted from a 'Russian Youth Group' through the Hackney Twinning Office, presumably in the lead up to the borough twinning with the Presnensky District in Moscow in 1988. It is unclear whether the youth group was formed of young people from Russia, or the group of Hackney young people that visited the Soviet Union around this time.
