Steel An’ Skin, 1982
The band Steel An’ Skin was founded by young nightclub musicians born in Ghana, Nigeria, St. Kitts, Trinidad and the UK. They fused together different musical styles - steel pan, disco and dub to create Afro Punk Reggae (Dub). Steel An’ Skin gave concerts and workshops in London schools, expanding nationwide to prisons, psychiatric hospitals and summer festivals, including the Notting Hill Carnival.
