Clapton Stadium was the home of Clapton Orient Football Club until 1930. However, at a time when dog racing had no trouble equalling the popularity of football, the team had to leave the stadium to make way for a Greyhound racing track. On leaving the borough, the team became Leyton Orient Football Club and still play today.

As dog racing declined in popularity, the stadium held its final race in 1974.
