Clarice Taylor in
Moms & Her Ladies
The hit broadway show celebrating the humour of 'Moms' Mabley, the first woman stand-up comic.

[Reverse]

Moms Mabley was the first black woman stand-up comedian, the first woman stand-up comedian and quite possibly the first stand-up comedian altogether - that is, in the modern sense. On stage her raunchy salacious comedy observations poured out and inevitably brought the house down in fits of laughter.

Hidden from history, she nevertheless produced 22 albums and played the Apollo Harlem more times than any other act. Shed died in 1975 but her humour lives on.

Clarice Taylor bears an almost uncanny resemblance to Moms. More than that she has recreated Mom' character and humour and her show 'Moms' became a celebrated Broadway hit.

Clarice Taylor, known in Britain for her regular appearances in the Bill Cosby Show, w, is recognised as one of the best black character actors in the US and is bringing the British premiere of 'Moms and Her Ladies' to the Hackney Empire.
