Joint Statement
For the third year coming Camden, Hackney, Haringey and
Islington are working together to celebrate North London
Lesbian Strength & Gay Pride in June. 1990 is the 21st
anniversary of Stonewall’s call for Justice for lesbians and
gay men. Lesbian Strength & Gay Pride comes of age!
The four boroughs co-ordinate North London Lesbian
Strength and Gay Pride as the main cultural celebration for
our lesbian and gay communities and core again the
Festival’s artistic programme is complemented by a variety
of social and cultural initiatives from local lesbian and guy
organisations.
Our council’s equal opportunities policies have been
developed to ensure as end to discrimination in
employment and service progression for all members of the
Community; particularly black and ethnic minorities,
women, people with disabilities and lesbian and gay men.
Lesbian and gay men form a significant part of our
community and are entitled to receive services equal to
dance enjoyed by others.
We are aware of the different backgrounds and experiences
of lesbians and gay men and acknowledge the very real
issue of multiple oppressions. Particular care been taker
to ensure that the interests of lesbians. Lebians and gay
men with disabilities have been incorporated in the Festival
programme.
Whilst programmed specifically for lesbians and gay men,
many events dating the Festival will be of interest to all.
This year’s celebrations include theatre, films, music,
cabaret, exhibitions and literary events as well as sport and
games.
On behalf of the four brought we wish North London
Lesbian Strength & Gay Pride festival 1990 every success.
