This toy theatre is something wealthy children would have played with in the 1800s. This one was madein the 1850s by Pollocks of Hoxton. The stage is made from carved wood and card, with a curved front and flat back. The handpainted orchestra includes 13 people. The theatre and its many characters could be bought ready to use or be painted at home by the children.
