Physical Description
This is a toy theatre stage which is made from wood and card. It is handpainted and features a proscenium arch with chariot, four boxes with seated patrons and a orchestra in front of the stage. A toy theatre set may have been used by wealthy children in the 1800s. The theatre and its many characters could be bought ready to use or be painted at home by the children.
