Fun and Games

Pubs have long been sources of entertainment beyond drinking alcohol. These tokens were issued by local public houses. With many taverns being attached to pleasure gardens and various attractions, visitors may have been given these to gain refreshments as part of a paid entrance fee. They also could have been used to access paid-for entertainments on the grounds.
