Physical Description
A wood and metal pole holding a blue fabric double pointed triangular pennant. The pennant is embroidered with the words 'ARP' and the Stoke Newington coat of arms.
The ARP (Air Raid Precaution) scheme provided public shelters and gas-proof rooms in people’s homes. Each ARP warden worked in one post, and was responsible for a particular area. They made sure that no light was visible at night, and made records of bomb damage.
