Physical Description
The Day Mer organisation works on behalf of Turkish and Kurdish people in London to advocate for their cultural, economic, social and democratic rights. Since 1989 they have organised the annual Day Mer cultural festival, the longest running festival in Hackney. This poster advertises the 1991 festival, held on Newington Green Common. Day Mer's work to unify the indigenous and migrant communities in Hackney is reflected in the festival activities, which include traditional Turkish and Kurdish food, folk music and dancing, African and Latin American music, and a lottery draw.
