Founded in 1973 Sweet Honey in the Rock is an all-woman, African-American a cappella ensemble. Its members have changed over time however its mission has remained the same - to educate, entertain and empower its audience. This positive image of African heritage female musicians was part of a wider movement to share African inspired music globally and in Hackney.
