"I have bitter memories of past years in Hackney. Of the fight against unemployment and the Means Test; of struggle to organise the terribly low paid workers. And during the war this fight for a better life has continued. To-day it is a battle for Jobs and for Homes. I am confident that the thousands of workers whom I know and have worked with, share my view that we need in South Hackney and M.P. who will stand and fight for our people in the most vigorous way. William Rust is an active Trade Unionist. No other candidate in South Hackney can say this. He has fought for Trade Unionism and for improved conditions for the people. As a Hackney Trade Unionist and one who has been in the thick of the fight myself, I am proud to be associated with this election campaign and call upon all Trade Unionists to VOTE RUST.
