St. Leonard’s representatives have again distinguished themselves at
the Annual Musical Festival at the People’s Palace. We learn (while
just going to press) that the Choir of W.H.S. Girls were winners of the
first prize on Wednesday, the 27th ult., gaining 139 marks in a possible
160. Dr.Somerville, the Judge, highly praised their tone and articulation.
He said he had enjoyed their rendering, and remarked that they were a
choir “hard to beat.” The party of girls from the Working Girls’ Club
also gained a minor award the same evening. Mr. Warren and his pupils
are to congratulated on the result of their labours for the past few months.
