"I was born and raised in Hackney but I have parents of African descent. I have chosen this object because I have family in the UK who still use these brooms for sweeping floors even though they could just walk to their local market and buy a regular broom. I remember the days when my cousins and I use to pull out the twigs from the broom and fight with them, as if they were swords. However, we did this so much that my aunt noticed that the broom was becoming thinner and thinner so she had to keep on buying new ones!"
