This long necklace with heart-shaped and round decorative pieces is representative of what a bride would wear in India. The red and white cord attached to the chain is for securing it around the neck. Jewellery is a very important part of a woman's dowry in Indian weddings and is usually made of high quality gold. This piece is a copy, purchased for the museum by members of the Factory Community Centre Asian Women's Group.
