Memories of Home, 2000
In 2000 Hackney Museum set-up a ‘West African Collecting Panel’. Its aim was to choose objects which panel members associated with growing up in West Africa. It was hoped that other people living in Hackney who had similar experiences would be able to identify with the items chosen. The panel selected 27 objects for Hackney Museum. A few are on display here - a pair of crocodile skin shoes, a N.T.G.B sack, multi-coloured woven cloth, a woven bag, a rattle made of shells and a catapult.
