Physical Description
This portable recording set consists of a tape recorder, microphone and instruction booklet made by Ferguson. It was owned by Irene Tomlin and used by her mother Edith Davies and sister Ivy Davies, who lived in Clapton. They used the set to make home recordings of vocal performances, making dozens of cassette tapes. The reel to reel format was popular for use in the home until the 1960s, when compact cassettes gradually took over.
