4. Improvements to London buses mean that they carry nearly 6m passengers a day, a 30% increase in the last four years.

5. £1bn per year of improvements to London underground include a 45% increase in capacity on the Jubilee Line, which will serve the main Olympic facilities.

6. London’s transport agencies repeatedly deliver for big events, e.g. Golden Jubilee, Millennium, Notting Hill Carnival, Parties in the Park: state and sporting occasions.

7. London’s congestion charge is a world leader in speeding up traffic.

8. Every Games venue will be accessible by rail and by 2012, a choice of 10 rail routes will serve the Olympic Park at Stratford: a train every 15 seconds.

9. Additional journeys as a result of staging the games will add less than 5% of the daily total, but staging the Games in the summer holiday period means that 20% fewer commuters will be using the system than on a normal weekday.

10. £17gn is being spent on London’s transport system before 2012.
