press, Jules Pipe stands out
like a beacon.
Jules is passionate about
Hackney and the people who
live here. For the past four
years as your Labour Mayor,
and before that as a councillor
for six years, he has put local
people first. Working hard
and getting results is what
motivates Jules and how he
measures his success. After all,
Jules lives here too and knows
what people here need from
their council.
Jules is regularly out and about
Meetings and taking with local
residents, and listening to their
views. He believes he has been a
better Mayor because he is in touch
with the views of Hackney people.
He has also helped around 2000
residents with personal casework
issued since 2002.
Fighting crime and anti-social behaviour. Jules ensured Hackney got 66
extra police this year.
Jules is not politician who
just talks about problems — he
finds solutions. Nothing is too
big or small for Jules to help
with. The centre pages of this
leaflet show just a few of his
achievements — both big and
small, and there are many
more.
Whether it is balancing
Hackney’s budget after years of
hung council chaos and cuts,
overseeing record investment
in council housing, getting more
bobbies on the beat or securing
three new mixed secondary
schools, Jules has the same
approach — local people come
first.
Jules has not just won the
respect of local people for
respect Hackney Council from
years of political infighting and
mismanagement; he has won
the attention of Government
Ministers as a strong voice for
Hackney. Hackney under Jules
Pipe and his Labour team is
now held up nationally as an
example of how to improve
local council services — through
