Physical Description
This is a Preludin Calculator, a black tube with sliding and rotating red inner tube to calculate normal weight by height. The object includes paper instructions and white cardboard tubular packaging with Manchester postage of 10 1/2d. Two interlocking tubes featured cutaway holes to reveal height, weight, sex and age. These tubes would be turned to line up variables in order to indicate the ideal weight of a person by their height, sex and age. The Preludin Calculator was the forerunner to today’s body mass index (BMI) charts.
