Physical Description
This medical clip is a long 'n' shaped piece of silver metal with two tabs on each end. It has horizontal serrating on each side. It is part of a collection donated by the family of Dr Lionel Stoll.
Dr Lionel Stoll was born in Lithuania in 1907 to Russian Jewish parents. The family moved to Liverpool and came to Hackney when Lionel was 11. They lived at 49 Southborough Road. Lionel went to Raines Foundation School in Hackney and trained at Guy’s Hospital Medical School. In 1935, he borrowed money from an uncle to start his first practise in Chalk Farm.
Dr Stoll strongly supported the National Health Service. Before the days of free treatment, he would try to come to some arrangements with patients who couldn’t afford his fee.
