Band of Hope Temperance Banner.
The Band of Hope was a temperance organisation founded in 1847. All members signed the Pledge which was a promise never to drink alcohol. They were taught the ‘evils of drink’. Banners like these were carried at processions organised by local societies.
The Hackney and East Middlesex branch was founded in 1880. The donor and family were members. Hackney.
