Xpress was started in 1993 in Hoxton by two journalists with the publication of ‘Yardie’ by Victor Headley. The book’s success sparked a publishing revolution in Black popular writing. Xpress went on to become Europe's largest publisher of Black fiction, showcasing contemporary urban fiction from writers such as Michael Maynard.
