Physical Description
Photograph by Dennis Morris entitled 'Sign of Brotherhood'.
“The important thing in this picture is the influence of Roots. When two Black people did this, it was a sign of togetherness. At the time, if two Black people did this amongst a group of white people, it would have been taken as a sign of Black power. Now you’ll find that two white kids might do it to each other; a Black friend might do it with his white friend. It is now seen as a sign of deep friendship; the symbol behind the gesture has completely changed” - Dennis Morris
