Dozens of photographs in the Eason collection feature this Christmas scene set. Such seasonal photographs were obviously popular with Dalston residents in the 1880s who would have made their portraits into cards and given them to friends and relatives.
This negative is etched with the name Booth. William and Mary Booth were the founders of the Salvation Army and like many Victorians they had a large family. This photograph features 3 of their 32 grandchildren.
