The Great War.
DEAR FRIEND,
This Great and Terrible War still rages.
Tens of thousands of the bright manhood of our country are leaving our shores. Many, alas! Never to return. Our only office assistant is now called to the Colours, making our difficult task to carry on more difficult than ever. Hundreds of our supporters have gone to the Front, many have already fallen, many more are wounded; others at home with business broken up. We gave the month of work in the harvest field, to help gather in the fruits of the earth. This was very acceptable to who are so short of men. On our return we were met with a report from the bank that our account is overdrawn to the extent of £35. This, with the accounts for Bibles, Testaments, etc., continually coming in, makes us almost despair of being able to keep going, but we are earnestly looking up as in days past begging.
