Object history

Traditional Kurdish saddle bags like this have been used in Antalya, Turkey for hundreds of years. Shepherds would often carry bags like this to carry food for the donkey or salt for the herd of sheep, which would help to get their herd to drink water. They may have also been used to carry young lambs who were unable to walk.
