Benefit for London Animal Action and Reclaim the Streets North London
9pm till 1am, £3.50/£2.50
At Pembury Tavern, 90 Amhurst Road, Hackney E8
London Animal Action is a grassroots organisation that campaigns against all forms of animal abuse, especially the
fur trade, vivisection, the meat, dairy and egg industries, hunting and animals in circuses. We hold regular demos, pickets, stalls and meetings. If you want to get involved, you can come to our open meetings on the second Tuesday of every month at 1a Community Centre, 1a Rosebery Avenue, EC1 at 7.30pm.
We also publish a monthly newsletter called London Animal Rights News. To receive it, you can come to the meetings or send a cheque or postal order for £5 (£3 unwaged) payable to LAA. Our postal address is BM Box 2248, London WC1N 3XX, Tel. 0171 278 3069, E-mail: londonaa.demon.co.uk
Reclaim the Streets is a Direct Action Network seeking the rediscovery and liberation of the city streets. Whether challenging the car culture, subverting billboards, organising alongside striking workers, Reclaim the Streets aims to be a catalyst for radical social change. Their street parties have seen thousands of people take to the streets in defiance of the present ‘order’. RTS meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm at the squatted Brownswood Library (change to new address as from mid-April, phone RTS for more info). The money collected at the gig on 5 June (see above) will go towards organising the street party in North London on the following day.
For more info about forthcoming street parties and action contact: Reclaim the Streets, P.O Box 9656, London N4 4JY, Tel: 0171-281 4621
