In the event of an emergency during a meeting the alarm will sound and the mayor or chairperson will adjourn the meeting and issue the following instructions:-
Would people sitting on the ground floor of the chamber please leave the chamber in an orderly manner by the 'ayes' and 'noes' doors. Then proceed down the main stairs and out of the main front door.
People sitting in the balcony should leave by the rear doors of the balcony, turn right and proceed down the stairs to the north door (car park side of building).
Having left the building people should assemble in the town hall forecourt and await further instructions.
The building should be vacated by these direct routes and people should not stop to collect personal belongings.
