This is a photograph of "Rebel without a Clue", a political cabaret duo made up of Julie McNamara and Judy Coutinho. In this picture they are performing at the Rose and Crown, formerly on Mare Street, in the late 1980s. The band's outfits are decorated with tampons and sanitary towels. Some of their music was written to challenge ideas and people had about lesbian women.
Rebel went to Belfast and toured round Ireland in Julie’s camper van. Note bandoleer of tampons.
