‘Matchbox 1985’ is a toy catalogue of models of miniature vehicles. The cover is illustrated with a full colour representation of a Formula 1 Flag. It has a red colour in the upper part with the name of the brand ‘Matchbox’ whereas the lower part has the F1 flag and the number 1985.
Matchbox is a brand of toys made at Lesney’s factory in Hackney Wick. Leslie Smith and Rodney Smith founded the factory in 1947. The idea behind the small vehicles was that they should be affordable and small enough to fit into a matchbox.
