Introduction

About your new local service 816
The 816 route replaces the 817 and 818 circular routes, providing an improved two-way service. The route has been especially designed to link Hackney's residential areas and estates to shopping centres, leisure facilities, health centres and major transport links both within and just outside the borough.

The service is open to everyone, with fully accessible buses for wheelchair users and friendly drivers who will give assistance when required.

The route operates in both directions, connecting the Nye Bevan, Clapton Park and Nightingale Estates with Dalston and London Fields. It then links to the Tesco store at hackney Central, Homerton Hospital and on to the Leyton Mills retail Park taking in the Kingsmead estate on the way.

Hail and Ride

The 816 will operate on a Hail and Ride basis. This means that as well as being able to board the buses at any of the bus stops situated along the route, you will also be able to 'hail' the bus on roads where there are no bus stops and provided it is safe, the driver will stop to pick you up.

Fares
-Freedom Pass holders and children under the age of 16 travel free.
-The Adult cash fare for a single journey is £1.00.
-Oyster Cards, Travelcards and Saver Tickets are not accepted on this service.
