Waste less,
Recycle more
75% of what goes in our bins (including food) can be recycled
Recycling is good for the environment- it saves energy to make things from recycled materials.

Recycling costs less than throwing rubbish away. Savings can help protect other valuable services such as parks and street cleaning, so everyone needs to recycles as much as they can.

Some streets in Hackney recycle almost 40% of their waste. But in the Stamford Hill area less than 40% of waste is recycled.

Food waste
About one third of rubbish is food waste. Separating it into a blue bin is the CLEANEST and EASIEST way to get rid of it.
The food waste collected is turned into compost and used in parks and gardens to help plants grow.
