Physical Description

A6 flyer advertising the Fossil Free UK Movement. The front is orange with a faint image of a crowd and black and white text over it. The back is similar and explains why and how to take action for this cause.

This flyer was collected on May 13th 2017 at a protest outside Hackney Town Hall organised by pressure group Divest Hackney. In response to the council's investment strategy, the campaigners chased a 'giant fossil fuel monster' out of the borough.

Our public institutions- from universities to local councils, faith groups to pension funds- are investing billions in the companies blocking action on climate change.

We're calling on them to end their investments in the fossil fuel industry, and cut their ties with climate-wrecking companies.

WHY?
Climate change is already having devastating impacts across the world. With record heat, extreme floods and droughts becoming the global norm, we need urgent action.

It's simple: we need to keep oil, coal and gas in the ground and build a safe, clean energy system for all.

But the fossil fuel industry keeps digging, and has spent decades obstructing progress towards a clean, sustainable future. Companies like Shell and BP have no intention of changing their ways.

By diverting from fossil fuels, we can challenge this reckless industry's power and build a movement for strng climate action.

it's time for our public institutions to stand on the right side of history.

TAKE ACTION

Globally, hundreds of institutions have already committed to divest and campaigns across the UK and around the world are taking action in their communities.
