Object history
These commemorative badges were awarded to people who worked for or with Hackney Council during the Covid-19 pandemic. A letter accompanying these badges from both the Mayor of Hackney and Chief Executive reads: "we do not want to forget the huge efforts made by so many of our staff to keep our services running" and continues "Thank you, again. Your life-saving efforts during 2020 and beyond demonstrated the very best of Hackney Council".
Badges were given to staff who "left their day jobs to take up important roles such as running PPE and food-aid distribution centres" as well as those who worked "tirelessly behind the scenes to keep the information flowing or setting up new processes and ways of working".
