Wooden box with metal lock and key. The box has several different compartments, a writing surface and a School Board of London label inside.
Object history
This wooden writing box was given to a student as an award at Bailey's Lane School, Hackney. The student - Duncan Davidson Forbes - was awarded the box for good attendance in 1901.
The box was found in a jumble sale in Essex and the key was found some years later in a collection of old school keys.
